This document explains how to connect your Mac to an AirPrint-enabled printer and print documents without installing additional drivers. It also includes troubleshooting tips to resolve common connectivity or printing issues.
- AirPrint works only over Wi-Fi and may not support all advanced printer features, not USB.
- Some printer features (duplex, color selection) may not be available unless supported by AirPrint.
What is it?
AirPrint is Apple’s built-in printing technology that allows macOS devices to print over Wi-Fi to compatible printers. It eliminates the need for driver downloads or software installation.
🖨️ How to:
1, Open System Settings from the Apple Menu .
2, Scroll down the left sidebar and select Printers & Scanners.
3, Click the Add Printer (+) button on the right.
4, Your Mac will search for available printers on the network.
5, Select your AirPrint-compatible printer from the list.
6, Ensure the “Use” field says AirPrint. If not, select it manually from the dropdown.
7, Click Add.
8, Open any file or webpage you want to print.
9, Go to File > Print or press Command + P.
10, Choose your AirPrint printer from the Printer dropdown.
11, Set your desired print options (copies, pages, color, etc.) and click Print.
🛠 Troubleshooting:
Printer not showing up?
- Make sure the printer and Mac are on the same Wi-Fi network.
- Restart your Mac and printer.
- Check the printer’s Wi-Fi status or reconnect it via its display panel.
AirPrint not selected automatically?
- Go back to Printers & Scanners, remove the printer, and re-add it.
- Manually select AirPrint from the “Use” dropdown before adding.
