About:
This document explains how to add the “Required” field in a Jira ticket.
How to:
-
Find the Jira Project you want to do changes in. Look at the bottom-left of your screen → click Project settings.
-
In the Project settings menu, find and click Request types (under “Channels”). You’ll now see a list of all the request types customers can use, like Get IT help, Request access, _Report a problem, etc.
-
Choose the request type you want to edit. Click the name of the request type (for example Request new hardware).
-
Switch to the Request form tab. At the top of the page, you’ll see two tabs: Request form and Issue view. Make sure Request form is selected — this controls what users see when they fill out the ticket.
-
Find the field you want to make required. You’ll see a list of fields already in the form. Each field has a small arrow (˅) or three dots (⋮) on the right side.
-
Make it required. Click the arrow (˅) or three dots (⋮) next to the field name. A small menu will appear, tick the box that says Required.
-
Save your changes. Sometimes Jira Cloud automatically saves your changes. You can close the form, your field is now required when someone fills out that request type.
And you are done. 😄
